This is not really an inspirational story but here goes!
Recently, something strange happened to me. For a period of one week, I kept having these huge mosquitoes showing up in the en-suite bathroom in my bedroom. I am very allergic to mosquito bites so I did not like seeing these mosquitoes. I don’t know where they came from. It is only 10 degrees Celsius (50 F) outside so I shouldn’t be expecting mosquitoes anymore! What was even more interesting is that they always fly around the ceiling of the bathroom, where I cannot reach it. So, for three times in a row, I threw a pack of facial wipes after them which resulted in their immediate demise. I am not proud to write this but I guess my Ego was in fear mode and it was thinking, look little guy, it is either you surviving or me being bitten by you!
After the 3 mosquitoes have come and gone, I found a huge spider on the ceiling of my bathroom. The spider is HUGE, including legs, this thing was around 5 cm in diameter (2 inches). Since I have never been bitten by a spider, I decided not to do anything about the spider. For a period of a few days, it even crawled very close to my bed at one point before returning to the bathroom ceiling. I saw that it made multiple attempts to make a web without much success and now it is just “staking out” on the ceiling.
It has been there for 4 days now and not a single prey had fallen into the web. I began to understand that perhaps I had interfered with the process of nature. Had I let the 3 mosquitoes live, then, the spider would have had something to catch and eat. Ironically, the corpse of one of the mosquitoes that was hit by my perfect aim is situated within 5 cm (2 inches) of the spider’s legs.
So…now I feel really bad. I’m going to have to pay for this Karma.
Sorry, mosquitoes always meet their end when they are around me too. I am very allergic to their bites also. My suggestion is to catch the spider in a plastic cup and release it outside so it doesn’t starve. Killed mosquitoes but saved spider – karma nullified. 🙂
The spider is huge! I am sending my 200 cm tall husband after the spider on the ceiling right now to nullify the Karma! 😛
Turned out that the huge spider was transported with a big piece of paper and a toy fireman’s hat and it didn’t resist at all. My husband said it was just about “exspidered” instead of “expired”.
If you did not kill the mosquitoes, they would suck your blood constantly for months and reproduce offspring that would get eaten by the spider.
I have this water hole at my kitchen’s bottom cabinet that I am thinking of sealing so that the cockroaches who live in there will not get to come out to feed on the scraps of garbage food and multiple further.
By that the time the offsprings are produced, the spider would be too hungry and probably die anyways. My memory of the few years I lived in Singapore is that there are these big tall apartments and there is a garbage shoot you would use to throw the garbage down to the bottom floor dump of some sort and the cockroaches will climb in that way too…Hey, these critters have survived on Earth for a long time, who knows, maybe longer than we have, they’ll find a way to multiply.
